‘La Bohème’ in Munich
This December, Stephen Costello brings his lauded portrayal of the poet Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème to audiences at the Bayerische Staatsoper. It’s a welcome return to Munich for Costello, who has previously appeared there as Rodolfo, as well as Alfredo in Verdi’s La traviata, the title role in Verdi’s Don Carlo, and as Don José in Bizet’s Carmen.
Costello will join an all-star cast in Otto Schenk’s opulent production, under the baton of Nicola Luisotti. Sonya Yoncheva sings the frail Mimì, with Juliana Grigoryan as Musetta, Andrzej Filończyk as Marcello, Germán Olvera as Schunard, and Roberto Tagliavini as Colline.
Costello appears in La bohème on December 23 and 26, 2025.
