Maria Stuarda at the Met this April

This April, Stephen Costello sings the role of Leicester in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda at the Metropolitan Opera.

Stephen returns to the Met to sing in this dramatic retelling of Frederich Schiller’s play about Mary Queen of Scots and her political and personal rivalry with Queen Elizabeth I. A true masterwork, this opera only recently achieved its deserved place in the repertory in large part thanks to David McVicar’s acclaimed production for the Met that premiered on New Year’s Eve in 2012.

Maurizio Benini conducts this production, which also stars Diana Damrau (Maria Stuarda), Jamie Barton (Elisabetta), Andrezj Filonczyk (Cecil), and Michele Pertusi (Talbot). Performances run from April 19–May 9. Click here for tickets.
