Mario Lanza Tribute in Romania and Lithuania

This May and June, Stephen Costello celebrates the renowned singer and film star, Mario Lanza, with two concerts in Eastern Europe. The program pays musical tribute to the legendary tenor and features songs and opera arias from Lanza’s most beloved performances.

On May 30, Costello joins the Romanian National Opera of Cluj-Napoca, led by guest conductor Constantine Orbelian and featuring baritone Florin Estefan.

On June 4, Costello travels to Lithuania, joining the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra at the Pažaislis Monastery, again under Orbelian’s baton.

This isn’t the first time the tenor has honored Lanza. In 2021, Costello participated in a special episode of PBS’ Articulate: ‘Mario Lanza at 100,’ where he reflected on the life and work of the beloved singer and Hollywood star and sang some of his most famous songs and arias.
