‘Roberto Devereux’ at Opernhaus Zürich
Stephen Costello returns to the Opernhaus Zürich to star in the title role of Donizetti’s Roberto Devereux on February 5, 9, 12, 17, 26, & March 4, 7, 17. Costello gave his first appearances as Roberto Devereux, the final installment of Donizetti’s Tudor trilogy, at the Dallas Opera, prompting Opera Warhorses to declare: “His was a vocally brilliant, smoldering performance.” Opera News proclaimed him the “star of the performance.”
Featuring a new production by David Alden, Costello will share the stage with a top-notch cast, including Inga Kalna and Elena Moşuc as Elisabetta I, Konstantin Shushakov as Duca di Nottingham, Anna Goryachova as Sara, Andrew Owens and Alejandro Del Cerro as Lord Cecil, Brent Michael Smith as Sir Gualtiero Raleigh, Aksel Daveyan as Page, Gregory Feldmann as Vertrauter Nottinghams, and Francesco Guglielmino as Henker. Enrique Mazzola conducts.
