‘La bohème’ at The Metropolitan Opera
This spring, Stephen Costello is set to return to the stage of The Metropolitan Opera as Rodolfo in Puccini’s beloved opera, La bohème. He appeared with the illustrious company in two other leading roles earlier this season: Alfredo in La Traviata and the Duke in Rigoletto.
Conducted by Yannick Nezét-Séguin and Paolo Carignani (May 11, 17, 20), this production of La bohème is Franco Zeffirelli’s iconic staging which first premiered at The Met in 1981 and continues to be the most-performed production in the company’s history. Alongside Costello, the production features an impressive cast including Eleonora Burratto as Mimì, Sylvia D’Eramo and Leah Hawkins (May 11, 17, 20) as Musetta, Davide Luciano as Marcello, Alexey Lavrov as Schaunard, Christian Van Horn as Colline, and Donald Maxwell and Philip Cokorinos (May 11) as Benoit/Alcindoro.
Mr. Costello’s performances are scheduled for April 21, 24, 28, May 2, 6, 11, 14, 17, and 20.
